IT was a great week for schools football in Down as St Mark's, Warrenpoint ,annexed the Ulster U14 Vocational Schools title with a win over St Paul’s, Lurgan, while St Colman's Newry reached their first MacRory final in 11 years with a win over holders St Patrick's Dungannon.

MY old school St Mark's, Warrenpoint, have a great chance to add to their illustrious GAA history when they play St Paul's, Lurgan, in the U14 Vocational Schools final on Thursday in the newly refurbished Healey Park in Omagh.

WE had a good start to the McKenna cup on Saturday evening with victory against Queen’s under our new manager James McCartan.

IT was disappointing that all games were called off at the weekend but hopefully the weather improves and we can get our first taste of action on Saturday evening in Pairc Esler against Queens at 7pm.

AFTER a relaxed break it was back to the grind of competitive football on Sunday with a game against Fermanagh to get used to the new rules before the start of the McKenna cup.
