Wednesday, 21 December 2011

With 2012 on the horizon, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your summer holiday. Making your decision early will allow you to benefit from the best prices and deals and will ensure that you have something to look forward to during the colder months. All this means that there is just one question you need to ask yourself: where should you go next summer?

With the world being easily accessible via numerous forms of transport, deciding where to go on holiday can see individuals face an endless selection of choice. When making your decision you will first of all need to decide whether you want your trip to be nationally or internationally based. Once this has been decided you can begin to look at the great destinations available for these options, allowing you to find the best place to visit next summer.

National
For those who want to stay on home turf next summer there are a number of great options available. With the 2012 Olympic Games being held in our capital it might be worthwhile visiting some of our coastal regions for a break from all the excitement and bustle.

Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District continue to be some of the most popular destinations in England whilst Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland offer their fair share of attractions too. British islands such as Jersey, Guernsey and even the Isle of Man can make interesting destinations for those wanting to stay at home whilst exploring somewhere completely new.

National based holidays are proving more popular with British as figures from Visit Britain suggest as many as 29.803 million people took part in inbound tourism last year.

International
Those wishing to travel further afield will literally have a world of destinations available to them. Spain and America are popular destinations for those who want some of the familiarity of home in a foreign location. These areas are well known for their popularity amongst British travellers and therefore make the ideal destination for summer breaks.

Those who have already enjoyed holidays to Florida or other American states can experience the country in a new way by changing their location or even their accommodation. The small island of Hawaii makes a popular destination for those after a relaxing break in the sun whilst staying in Florida villas could give people a great new way to experience a familiar setting.

For those interested in a Spanish holiday there are a number of locations which can be visited. A number of coastal resorts are popular with British tourists whilst areas such as Barcelona provide artistic and cultural attractions for visitors from across the world.

Alternatively, those who want to experience something completely new could consider visiting Spain's neighbour: Portugal. Portugal Villas offer a luxurious holiday experience for travellers whilst exposing them to the same glorious sunshine they are used to in Spain.

Alongside this the country also has a number of great attractions, with water parks and natural landscapes offer a variety of experiences to travellers.
