Daisy Hill's 9.1m Bid

THE Southern Trust has submitted an application for improved Paediatric Services at Daisy Hill Hospital worth 9.1 million.
The Trust has also applied for funding for Craigavon Area Hospital and the future accommodation will see another 19 beds brought to Daisy Hill.
Paul Morgan, Director of Children and Young People's Services at the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, said: "The Trust has submitted to the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety for its consideration a combined capital business case for improved paediatric services at Craigavon and Daisy Hill Hospitals.
“The future accommodation will bring together inpatients, ambulatory and outpatients services on both hospital sites with a dedicated paediatric theatre at Daisy Hill.
“Capital investment of 9.1 million is required for Daisy Hill Hospital and 6.6 million for Craigavon Area Hospital."
Newry and Mourne Sinn Fein Councillor, Charlie Casey has welcomed the news of the planned investment.
“If successful this will mean an increase of 19 beds and additional ambulatory and outpatient services. Most importantly plans include the development of a dedicated paediatric theatre at Daisy Hill."
Sinn Fein MLA, Mickey Brady added: "I see this as a fantastic development for Daisy Hill and Craigavon and I hope that this bid is successful.
“This investment in the local health estate would mean world class services for the children of the district and it will further cement Daisy Hill's position as a centre of excellence.
“As a member of the Assembly's
Health Committee I am fully dedicated to the continuous development of Daisy Hill Hospital."
