It's 'snow' joke as Buttercrane sets new world record! thumbnailSOME of the Snowmen enjoying the Guinness Book of Records attempt at the Buttercrane Shopping Centre.

THERE was 'snow' stopping the fun at the Buttercrane last Thursday night as Santa made a world-record breaking entrance!

Almost 400 people dressed up as snowmen broke the record for the world's largest gathering of people dressed as snowmen ahead of the big man's arrival.

Peter Murray, Centre Manager at the Buttercrane, said: "We're delighted to break the World Record for World's Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Snowmen with a figure of 398 (the current record 333).

"The atmostphere was electric and it was wonderful for so many local people to come out and support the event.

“It is fantastic to have a world record for Newry. It was a true spectacle and a great way to start our Christmas Celebrations in the City and for Buttercrane Shopping Centre."

The world record isn't confirmed just yet - all of the documentation is on it's way to Guinness and it is hoped that the record will be verified by the end of the year.
