Tough conditions for City Runners

Tuesday, 8 May 2018

NEWRY City Runners faced tough conditions during the fourth Hill and Dale event.
The race to the summit of Binian, was a contrast to the weather of 2017. However, poor conditions didn't deter the NCR mountain goats.
First home was Duddy Parr, who finished in 29:44, and he was followed across the line by Gary McGale in 32:16. Cathal Morgan was next in 36:12, Aaron Montgomery recorded 38:10 with Laura Devine posting up a fine 38:53. Colm O'Brien clocked 42:39, Damian McCann did 43:34 while Karen McElroy finished in 48:41. Good running from all eight NCR athletes.
Congratulations are in order for Aidan Murray who finished the Annalong Horsehoe event in 3:03:41. The Horseshoe is a tough 14-mile mountain race, comprising several peaks.
Well done too to Bernard Hamill who completed the Drogheda 10k in warm conditions. Bernard recorded a fantastic time of 40:30 and he did extremely well to finish in the top 50 in a race with over 1000 runners.
Meanwhile runners are encouraged to continue to support the Rostrevor Park Run event and PM their Facebook page if you are free to marshal in the coming weeks/months.
