Historical sex abuse arrest follows Crossmaglen search

A MEMBER of the Ulster branch of the GAA "is being investigated by
statutory authorities in relation to historical safeguarding matters.".
It follows searches and the arrest of a man in the Crossmaglen area on
Sunday, August 5.
It is understood that the allegations are of historical sexual abuse.
A PSNI spokesperson said that the 57-year-old was released on bail pending
further enquiries.
Meanwhile the Ulster GAA said it was "aware that a member of the
association in the province is being investigated by statutory authorities
in relation to historical safeguarding matters.
"We encourage any member of the association, or others, who may have
information in relation to these investigations to cooperate in full with
the statutory authorities as part of their investigations.
"The individual in question has been debarred from all activities in the
association pending the outcome of the investigation."
