SILVERBRIDGE 3-10 DROMINTEE 1-11.
SILVERBRIDGE came from six points down to win by five, and clinch the Armagh All-County Championship title after defeating south Armagh rivals and favourites Dromintee.
The Bridge were deserved winners in what was an entertaining contest at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday.
They displayed a cutting edge and played with an abundance of energy with midfielders Jarly Og Burns and Paddy Reel running end-to-end throughout the hour.
As expected it was Dromintee who impressed and stamped their authority in the early stages of the game but Silverbridge finished the half strong and then completely dominated the second period.
Dromintee raced into a 1-06 to 0-03 lead with corner-back Ryan Gaskin driving forward at will and chipping in with two points. Patrick Morgan and Glenn McCoy added to Dromintee's tally and on 23 minutes Cathal McArdle palmed into the net after receiving an excellent pass from Conor Martin, who had cut inside and ran along the end-line.
Within 60 seconds Morgan tapped over another point to stretch Dromintee's lead and up to that point Silverbridge had squandered four wides and registered only three scores, - two from the impressive Eoghan Burns and one from Joe Rock.
Droms looked set to run away with the game as they but Silverbridge had other ideas and Eoghan Burns showed sheer determination and strength when received Pauric Keating's early long ball and from 21-metres from goal and he caught magnificently before powering through the Dromintee defence and lashing into the net for a stunning goal. It was the perfect response and there was more to come from Silverbridge as Keating, Eoghan Burns struck over the bar. Dromintee's Ryan Hughes and Morgan replied but it was the Bridge who had the last say of the half as Paddy Reel converted a free from 35-metres to leave only a point between the sides at half-time.
Half-time: Dromintee 1-08 Silverbrige 1-07
Jarly Og Burns needed only 48 seconds of the restart to level the score and Silverbridge looked a more convincing attacking side than they did in the opening half.
They played swift crisp passing and only for a wonderful sliding block from Dromintee full-back Peter Campbell, Aodhan Quinn would have been through on goal.
The game was played a fast pace with the Jack McArdle involved in kick-starting attacks, making intelligent interceptions and always making himself available for a pass.
Dromintee were down on their luck as they struck the post and crossbar but lady luck was shining on Silverbridge on 40 minutes as Jarly Og Burns'45' dropped short and broke to Aaron Duffy who from 14-metres simply volleyed the lose ball into the net. Silverbridge's tail was up and while there was 20 minutes still to play Silverbridge wouldn't allow Dromintee a way back into the game.
Dromintee were forced to dig deep to produce points from Glen McCoy and Morgan but it wasn't their day.
Instead the Bridge increased their pressure moving the ball swiftly and keeping the young Droms on the back-foot.
And Silverbridge substitute James McKeown put the game beyond doubt after he blasted in a goal.
Joint captains Cathal McKeown and Paddy Reel accepted the Minor Cup to bring it back to Silverbridge for the first time in 19 years. It was a wonderful contest and no doubt players such as Jarly Og Burns, Peter Campbell, Aaron McKay, Jack McArdle, Eoghan Burns and Ryan Gaskin will have a bright future whether for club, county or both.
