OUR Lady's Grammar School Minor Girls' team scooped two first place wins in the All-Ireland Minor School Swimming Championships in Dublin's National Aquatic Centre at the weekend.
The four strong team of Juliana Kelly, Eimear McMullen, Eve Dunford and Caoimhe Quinn outclassed the country's best swimmers to easily claim gold in both the team medley and the team freestyle relays with respective times of 2.31 and 2.16.
Also in the individual events Caoimhe Quinn won a brilliant silver medal in the backstroke and bronze in the freestyle while Juliana Kelly won two silver medals - in the breaststroke and individual medley.
Imelda McAteer, head of PE at Our Lady's, told the Democrat: "The girls were fantastic, the crème de la crème. They are the best swimming talent we have had at the school for a long, long time. They train so hard, are so passionate about their sport and always give 100 per cent.
“They had a big task at the weekend but they were so focused and rose to the occasion in a magnificent fashion. They are a great credit to the school and the school is so proud of them."
Meanwhile, also at the All Ireland Minor Schools gala, St Joseph's student Shea Rafferty won a super silver medal in the individual freestyle.
