Division Three
Hockey Club C 5 Slieve Gherkin 3
HOCKEY Club C are the new Division Three champions - and the first team from any division to wrap up a league title. Against Slieve Gherkin, the Belfast Road team fought back from going 2-1 and 3-2 in arrears to win the last three legs, grab the points and take their points total to 31. And with three matches left and seven points in front, they cannot now be caught. Congrats and especially since it's the first trophy that Hockey C have won in the Newry Darts League.
Hockey: Sam Holmes, Daniel Carroll, Jason Martin, Paul Irwin and Ashley Collum. Gherkin: Ruby Fegan, Gareth Rowntree and Sid Hughes.
Premier Division
Boyd's B 4 Hockey Club A 4
BOYD'S B kept their slender hopes of winning the Newry and Mourne Darts League Premier section alive when they fought back from 4-2 in arrears to draw with Hockey Club A. However, it will take a virtual miracle for the Stream Street side to lift the league trophy as they will need to win all their matches and leaders Trainor's A lose all theirs to even make a play-off for the title.
Boyd's: Justin McKevitt, John Morgan, Tristan Byrne and Mickey White (6x100). Hockey Club: Gary Dodds (154 finish), Sidney Henry, Rodney McCann (2x140) and Trevor Holmes.
Bosco 4 First and Last 4
BOSCO and First and Last were never far apart in this Premier League match. The North Street team led 3-2 but the Warrenpoint side reversed the scoreline to 4-3. Still Bosco won the eighth to share the spoils. Bosco: Peter Greenan, Tom McNally, Anto McCabe and Gerry Madigan. First and Last: Damian Quinn, Michael Gallagher, Connor Fegan and John Campbell.
CWC A 3 Mayobridge SC 5
MAYOBRIDGE Social Club picked up the points against CWC A - but needed to finish strongly to do so. The Bridge led 3-1 with the Working Men levelling at three apiece. However, Mayobridge won the last couple of sets to secure victory. CWC: Gerard Donegan, Johnny Murphy and Brian Sarsfield. Mayobridge: Cathal Rooney, Michael Magee, Sean Poland, Enda McConville and Thomas Coulter.
Three Steps A 4 Seasiders INF A 4
SEASIDERS INF A led 3-1 but rivals Three Steps A then fired off three wins on the spin to turn over the scoreline. Still the Warrenpoint team won the eighth set to pick up a share of the spoils. Steps: Mickey Morgan, Peter McCoy, Mickey O'Hagan and Stephen McArdle. Seasiders: Michael Greene, Kevin Rice, Paul Doran and Shane Rafferty.
Division One
Trainor's 7 CWC C 1
IT'S so tight at the top of Division One with three teams in contention for the title - Trainor's, Magee's A and Dromintee - with just a single point separating the sides.
But on Friday evening Trainor's ensured they maintained their joint top spot when they crushed CWC C with a 7-1 margin. And their scorers were Gerard O'Connell, Sean McAlinden, Billy Havern, Paddy McKeown, Anthony Sneddon, Eamon O'Boyle and Ciaran Britton. Mark Gorman was the only winner in the CWC camp.
Ballyholland INF 3 Magee's A 5
MAGEE'S A, sitting in joint league leadership with Trainor's faced a threat to their title aspirations when they trailed Ballyholland INF 2-1. But the Quaysiders knuckled down to the task in hand, won the next four legs and so pocketed the vital points. Ballyholland: Seamus Fearon, Martin Hayes and William O'Hagan. Magee's: Brian Martin, Chris Swinbourne, Sean Hillen, Tomas King and Mark King.
Forkhill GFC A 1 Dromintee GFC A 7
DROMINTEE GFC A are just one point adrift of the joint pacesetters and against Forkhill they showed no nerves as they rattled up a comfortable 7-1 victory over the basement team. Forkhill: Pat McKeown. Dromintee: Peter Rice, Damian Kilgallon, Peter McGennity, Brendan Galvin, Gareth Kilgallon, Gavin Fearon and Kevin O'Hare.
CWC B 4 Gap of the North A 4
CWC B looked set for victory as they led 4-2. But Gap of the North A were in no mood to throw in the towel and they won the last couple of sets to earn a creditable draw. Incidentally Stephen Fearon brilliantly posted up a double maximum (2x180) while Tommy Carlisle (16 darts) and Thomas McCartney (15 darts) also threw some amazing arrows. CWC: Ciaran Quinn, Steve Ling, Johnny Quinn and Jerome White. Gap: Stephen Fearon, Tommy Carlisle, Martin McCartney and Anthony Reynolds.
Seasiders INF B 5 Ti Chulainn A 3
SEASIDERS INF B took the points against Ti Chulainn but needed their last set to do so. Seasiders: Ronan Doyle, Liam Rice, Adrian McNally, Conor Byrne and James Robertson. Ti Chulainn: Fred Loye, Michael Canning and Paul Quinn.
Division Two
Doyle's 3 Lumpers 5
IF Division One was tight at the top, Division Three is even more so, as three teams sit in joint leadership, each on 28 points. Of the three though Lumpers were the only side to win last weekend. And although they trailed Doyle's 2-1, the Burren team recovered in style to win the next three sets and claim the points in the eighth. And that win pulled them to the table top, on par with Bayview and Corrinshego A.
Doyle's: Noel Finnegan, Sean Doyle and Pauric Murphy. Lumpers: Dermot Treanor, David Lambe, Damian White, Ciaran Keenan and Nathan Lambe.
Windmill C 4 Bayview 4
PACSETTERS Bayview trailed Windmill C 2-1 but then won three from the next four. Yet they couldn't win the last one with the Church Street team, who are just three places from the bottom of the table, doing the needful and picking up a point. Windmill: Chris McClure, Ian Smith, Collie McLoughlin and Peter Coffey. Bayview: Martin Duffy, Darren Quinn, John Quinn and Ivan O'Neill.
Dromintee GFC B 4 Corrinshego A 4
DROMINTEE GFC B, another team languishing near the foot of the table, denied Corrinshego A a clear lead at the head of affairs. The gaelic club led 2-1 with Corrinshego winning three from the next four. But Dromintee won the last set to secure a valuable point. Dromintee: Shane Taylor, Brian Larkin, Declan Fearon and Miceal McGennity. Corrinshego: Dee Dutton, Bernard McVerry, Kieran Pentony and Sean Fegan.
Hibs 4 Ann's Army 4
HIBS and Ann's Army fought out an entertaining draw. And indeed there was no stage of the match that either team were dominant, thus a draw was a fair result. Hibs: Paul Doran (137, 100), Frank Craven, Kevin Woods and Mark McEvoy. Army: Mark Daly, Gerard McGuigan, Jason Maguire and Barry McMahon.
Division Three
Ballyholland Harps 5 Hockey Club B 3
BALLYHOLLAND Harps caused quite a shock in Division Three as they defeated title hopefuls Hockey Club B. And what's more it was just the second league match the Harps have won all season. Ballyholland trailed Hockey Club 2-1 but then won four from the last five to snap up a memorable win. Harps: J Keenan, D Dixon, S Mulholland, M Shields and T Kane. Hockey: Jamie Wharton, Kenny Cowan and Sam Henry.
Killeavy GFC 1 Windmill B 7
WINDMILL B cruised to a 7-1 victory over Killeavy and their scorers were Tommy Casey, Sean O'Connor, Gerry Coghlan, Adrian Holman, Ralph Patterson, John Anderson and Joe Woods while only Oliver Quinn could win for Killeavy.
Shane O'Neill's GFC 6 Three Steps B 2
SHANE O'Neill's, at the foot of the table with Ballyholland Harps, played fine stuff to defeat Three Steps B. Their 6-2 victory speaks volumes and the scorers for Shane's were Kieran Malone, Connor Mackin, John McLoughlin, Gareth McLoughlin, Mick Mackin and Liam Moan (2x140, 121). Steps: D McCartan and C Quinn.
Division Four
Howe's 5 Forkhill GFC C 3
HOWE'S jumped into joint top spot in Division Four following a hard-earned win over Forkhill GFC C. The sides were level at the halfway stage but the
Omeath team won three from the last four to claim victory.
Howe's: Leroy McGuinness, Eunan Woods, Shane Holland, Ciaran Morgan and Packie Walker.
Forkhill: Barry McArdle, Tony Donaghy and Seamus Sheridan.
Armaghdown 4 Boyd's C 4
BOYD'S C lost a little ground in their quest to win Division Four. Against Armaghdown the Stream Street team dropped a point in a closely-fought encounter. And they would have been so disappointed, especially as they lost the vital eighth. Armaghdown: John Magee, Darren McLoughlin, Charlie Carnegie and Kenny Gilbraith.
Boyd's: James Havern, Jim Boyd (senior), Jimmy Little and Tommy Colgan.
Gerry Macs 6 Armaghdown Ladies 2
ARMAGHDOWN Ladies seemed to be on the road to winning as they led 2-0. But rivals Gerry Mac's then turned up the heat and took the remaining six legs to secure the points. Macs: Bronagh Hanna, Jeanette Dillon, Seamus Pearce, Sharon Dinsmore, Deborah Cunningham and Joanne Markey. Ladies: Tracey McKee and Tanya Connolly.
