Tucker wins tenth Ulster title
Tuesday, 20 December 2016
NEWRY'S Kane Tucker picked up his tenth Ulster title on Saturday in Toome. Kane beat William Callaghan from Carn ABC Donegal on a unanimous 3-0 decision.
From the opening round Kane took control of the fight landing numerous devastating body shots. His opposition got a warning in the second round for constantly holding and received a standing eight count in the third when Kane landed three or four heavy blows to head and body.
This has been a brilliant start to Kane's season with the massive wins he and his brother Jake had out in Germany a few weeks ago.
For now the boys can rest over Christmas before the big push leading up to the Nationals and U18 competitions in the New Year.
There was also success in the locality with St John Bosco's Brendan Murphy and St Moniaca's young Guy Wallace also winning at the Nine Counties Championships.
It caps off what has been a great year for boxing in the area.
