THE Northern Ireland Rally Championship started at Kirkistown with Warrenpoint's Peadar Hurson taking the final podium position in his Ford Fiesta debut despite a costly stage two spin.
Last year's Group N champion Clive Kilpatrick was knocking on the door of a top ten position in 11th and bagged early points with second in class in his Markethill-based Mitsubishi Lancer, ahead of Geoff McMahon and Rob Graham.
Gareth Feenan/Barry McParland and Andrew Patterson/Robert Harold were racing each other in C6 with Feenan's Mk2-spec Escort ahead of Patterson's G3 at the finish by 16s.
