A SENIOR priest’s sermon calling for “all loving relationships” to be acknowledged has been welcomed by the Chairperson of Newry Rainbow Community.
However, Rory Rafferty, pictured, says that it is also “too little, too late” from the Catholic Church.
He was speaking following a sermon given by the Diocese of Dromore’s acting Administrator, Fr Desmond Loughran, in Newry Cathedral recently.
Fr Loughran told the congregation: “In our world today our view of marriage has changed, it is not now seen as a union between a man and a woman.
“The gay community wanted to have marriage too and I believe that all loving relationships should be acknowledged, respected and treasured.”
