THE Down Fleadh is due to return to Warrenpoint on Thursday (June 24) until Sunday (June 27).
The local branch of Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua is busily making final preparations to make this year’s event which should be one of the best, if not the best, for many years.

The South Down Family Health Initiative are making the most of their new headquarters in Warrenpoint and have helped many people back to a near normal life thanks to a grant of almost half a million pounds from the Big Lottery Fund.
At a presentation evening in Warrenpoint Town Hall on Wednesday, certificates were presented to CEM participants at the celebratory event for cookery, jewellery making, computer skills, good parenting and photography. The SDFHI also operates in Rathfriland and Kilkeel.

Shenanigans Bar, Marine Parade, was packed for a leg-waxing event in aid of PIPS.
Victims Bernard Blair and John Mackrell had their legs beautified by Moira McAteer and she delighted in her role inflicting pain and suffering.
Emma McCullough and Rachael Annett were close to tears, caused by laughter.
John and Bernard also intend doing a long distance cycle run for the same charity.
The second annual Polish family fun day took place in Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor, on Saturday and dozens of families had a great time.
Mayor John Feehan was there to represent Newry and Mourne Council and welcomed the families on a beautiful sunny day.
Congratulations to Joanne and Martha for organising the event.
The Armagh Rhymers and Warrenpoint Fire Brigade were also on hand to help in the fun.
Mayor John Feehan’s last official duty, before handing over to councillor Mick Murphy, was the launch of the MS Golf Classic, which takes place in Warrenpoint Golf Club on July 16.
He was assisted in the launch by club captain Willie Hanna, who urged all members and friends to enter the event. Members of the MS Society, Newry Branch, were also present.
