HELLO again and welcome to July.
Dear, oh dear, England has been eliminated from the World Cup so now we are going to have to hear about 1966 for another four years!
Festival time is almost upon us again and last week we had the launch of the Maiden of the Mournes and the Fiddlers Green festivals.
As you know I'm heavily involved in the Maiden of the Mournes Festival and have been right from the start.
This year we have a new chairman and a fantastic hard working committee who have come up with some brilliant new ideas.
The parade and grand opening looks like it's going to be the best ever!
The entertainment on the street has changed slightly this year, as well as old favourites like Hugo Duncan and Country Harmony returning.
We also have local bands supplying pop, rock and punk and for all you single girls out there we have some great news!
Every night on the gig rig we are going to auction off a man. Yes ladies or gents, you can buy yourselves a hunk with all the profits going to the Southern Area Hospice!
For some reason you can’t buy a woman but maybe next year, who knows?
New chairman Kevin Gallacher paid tribute to the outgoing chairman Paul Braham and his committee for their ongoing help and support and to the most important people, the sponsors and all the other generous people who make our festival possible. Now it's just up to the local people to come out and support the festival!
Congrats to Gabriel Pizza Bradley and his friends who supplied the live music on the street during the County Down Fleadh.
Gabriel is a fantastic asset to our town and our community and he does a lot of hard work in the background.
Bad news...there were only three marching bands at the fleadh, good news...they all won!
Yes, in Warrenpoint everyone is a winner!
Til next week, take care and God bless, Big O.
