HELLO again and welcome, January is nearly over, how are your New Year resolutions going?
To be honest mine have stalled I just can't get into the mood. I'm blaming the weather and the general doom and gloom of the New Year. All I want to do is get a bit fitter and lose a bit of weight and I have to say truthfully I've been avoiding Conor of Mourne Fitness and Bill Donnelly whose photo was on the back page last week again.
John Magee's beef and Guinness pies are not helping, they're delicious. I would make a great Grub Spy and our town is full of great eating houses.
On the sporting front, I know it's early days and I don't want to put the blink on things but wee James McCartan has the boys in red and black ticking over nicely it would be great to get a trip to Croke Park. If Armagh make it to Croke Park we could go and say we were supporting Paddy O'Rourke!
Plans are well advanced for this year’s Maiden Of the Mournes Festival. There's a new committee in place, very eager and full of great new ideas. I will be hosting Beat On The Street introducing some local bands and international acts who will be new to the festival, it's going to be brilliant.
Don't forget the big fundraiser for Dromore Road School in the Balmoral on Thursday, February 18, with the Joe Dolan Tribute Band, it'll be a cracker, tickets on sale at £7.00.
Sadly we lost two great men in Patsy McDonald, who left Tyrone and brought a wealth of musical talent to his adopted Co Down and passed it on to the people who attended the CCE. He was well liked for his droll sense of humour. And Kenny Brown was a quiet man who I played soccer with many years ago. T o the McDonald and Brown families may I wish my deepest condolences.
Til next week take care and God bless.
