ANOTHER super Sunday for the Newry Wheelers at the Ulster Cyclo-Cross series. Foyle CC hosted Round Six at St Columbus Park, County Derry, east of the Foyle River.

This was a challenging course and a popular choice in the Ulster series and was noted as the Halloween Cyclo-cross race.

The course started on the gravel pitches, headed into the woods, sharply uphill, onto grassed playing fields with a steep downhill section. It was full of sharp, short up-hills, back onto a grassed area with obstacles and finishing on a gravel pitch.

Another good turnout for Newry Wheelers with Alan Bingham best in the red jersey, finishing fourth overall (first M40).

Next up was Des Woods in eighth (first M50) with Barry Convery just outside the top ten and Gary Sheils making the top twenty.

Thanks, as always, to Jude Sands supporting the lads in the pits. The help is much appreciated.
