Newry actor celebrates Oscar success

NEWRY actor Seamus O’Hara is celebrating after comedy-drama An Irish Goodbye won Best Live-Action Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

An Irish Goodbye's writer-directors, Tom Berkeley and Ross White, were joined onstage by stars James Martin and Séamus O'Hara as they accepted their Oscar (Pictured).

Prior to travelling to the Awards ceremony, Seamus posted on his social media page: “So ‘An Irish Goodbye’ is making its way over to The Oscars #ForYourConsideration at Longlist stage. Regardless of outcomes, this is a special film that just brings joy to anyone that has watched it. What else are we doing in this job if not aiming for that? Can’t wait for wider release for all to see!”

The versatile Newry actor, who has appeared in everything from Games of Thrones to Hope Street and Line of Duty, recently won a BAFTA award for his role in the film.
