Early stage in McKee murder case

A 25-year-old man appeared before Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with the murder of his father, Kilkeel man Robert 'Bobbie' McKee.

Colin William James McKee, whose address was given as Canal Street in Newry, appeared via video link from Maghaberry Prison.

During the short hearing the defendant heard from a Prosecutor that the file in the case was at a very early stage.

It was agreed to adjourn the case until May 15th.

He is also charged with the attempted murder of Robert's wife, Yvonne McKee.

Robert McKee, 69, was found dead in a house in Newcastle Road in Kilkeel last month, March.

Mrs McKee, who was also in the house, suffered serious head injuries.
