Supervalu bid adieu to an angel

BIDDING adieu to a person who can only be described as an absolute angel were the entire staff of Supervalu Newry who wished their most esteemed and beloved colleague Angela Quinlivan Rice a happy retirement.

Mrs Rice was pleasantly surprised whenever her entire entourage of colleagues came together at the closing of her final shift to gift her with flowers, cards and various other tokens of tenderness , none of which could even come close to expressing the profound sense of love and appreciation they have for their beloved colleague who has worked on the shop on Hill Street since 1982.

Whilst Angela does concede that after almost four decades of servicing the people of Newry she knows that it is time to go, she does so with the utmost dignity whilst saying a few final words of farewell and appreciation for the staff and customers who have made her career working in retail so rewarding and worthwhile.

Fond Farewell

“I will miss it but I know in my heart that it is time to go” said Angela.

“It doesn't feel like it has been 43 years, it feels only 20. I started in June 1982 when the shops was a Woolworths.

“What I enjoyed most about the job was the customers. I liked speaking to them every morning, saying hello and being friendly.

“The staff are lovely. One of our current managers was a part-timer whenever he first started here and now he is a manager. I have been working with Sean for 33 years and I have been working with other staff members for longer.

“The shop will stay afloat without me as there is a good crowd coming up behind me.

“I plan to do more work with dog rescue now that I have retired.”

Angela the entire team at the Newry Democrat wish you the most well deserved period of respite and relaxation during you retirement.

Most especially from your old pal next door Daniel. You were always a lovely beam of positivity whenever I came in to get my coffee in the morning , the presence of both made my job that much more pleasant and enjoyable.
