PROVING that she has what it takes to take to the stage with some of the most legendary Irish musical artists of all time is Lislea born musical protégée Niamh Noade.
Miss Noade, whose mythical talents with the harp have become world renowned , will take to the stage at Newry Town hall on September 27 to serve as the opening act for an equally talented trio of performers whom aged only 17 she can be more than proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with as equals.
Those being the legendary Sharon Shannon, Frances Black and Mary Coughlan.
Whilst audiences will be brimming with anticipation to fill their ears with the main course of music to be provided by this timeless trio of Irish female musicians, Niamh will make sure to provide quite the pleasing appetiser as the opening act when she performs a number of opening tracks with her trademark instrument. One of these is scheduled to be an up and coming cover which she will debut on the night in question.
Spirit of the harp
“It is a great opportunity for Niamh. We are really excited for it.” said Niamh’s mother Deidre.
“Niamh just turned 17 and this is her first big gig at this age. The event will see Sharon Shannon, Frances Black and Mary Coughlan live in concert at Newry Town Hall.
“Niamh got contacted by the event organiser’s Narrowater events through Fiona Flynn of Flynn performing arts. Fiona Flynn had recommended her to the event and they then contacted Niamh directly. Sharon Shannon, Frances Black and Mary Coughlan would have started of around a similar age to Niamh all those years ago so it is nice that Niamh is getting a chance to step in.
“ She will be doing Irish folk, her own cover song and a classic song as well. She will performing about five or six songs in total.
“It is 75% sold out already. Niamh has a discount code if anyone wants to go in to book on Eventbrite. If they just put in the words niamh noade all one word lower case they can get a 10% discount.
Honour
The significance of being afforded an opportunity to perform on the same stage as the very same Irish folk performers which she grew up listening to is not lost on Niamh, who described the chance to perform at Newry Town hall at the end of the month as an absolute honour.
“I am so excited and I cannot believe that I am doing it. I use to listen to Frances Black and her sister Mary Black all the time. They are really inspirational for me and I really want to be like them. It is an honour to sing before them and I just can't believe it.
“I am going to sing songs from local artists around here. The Hills of south Armagh and Belfast Love. These type of songs as well as traditional Irish folk from local artists that we know.
“I am going to be releasing a song next month and I will be singing it at the event for the first time at the town hall.” ”
